Autoimmune & Hypnotherapy

Studies show how guided imagery (hypnosis) and relaxation exercises improve the function of the immune system. Resistance to dis-ease improves while reactions to allergens are decreased, and attacks can top. Research shows continuous improvement in MS, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and more. An overactive immune system can be quieted via guided imagery just like an overactive nervous system can.

The autoimmune treatment protocol includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Learning stress management and self-hypnosis are first and foremost for any person with autoimmune dis-ease. Stress, or a stressful event, may or may not have triggered the autoimmune dis-ease, however, having an autoimmune dis-ease is stressful and stress suppresses the immune system.

  • Treatments that target the vagus nerve (10th cranial nerve) increase the Vagal Tone which activates the parasympathetic nervous system.  Having higher vagal tone means that your body can relax faster after stress.

  • Pain management is essential with most autoimmune dis-eases. People experience various degrees of discomfort, which adds to stress, depression and diminishes overall well-being.

  • People with autoimmune dis-eases experience a wide range of emotions including depression, fear, anger and despair. These emotions can negatively impact the immune system. Teaching how to manage these emotional states will enhance success.

  • Diet is known to have a major impact on autoimmune dis-eases. Often, dietary changes can actually eliminate many of the symptoms of autoimmune dis-ease. Restrictive diets are temporary displays of willpower and clients often fail to adhere to a diet. Teaching self-hypnosis tools for dietary control improve the ability to make this lifestyle change.

  • Functional Nutrition will delve deep into the root cause of the autoimmune dis-ease as each client is different and many factors contribute to the dis-ease.  Some "non-negotiables" will be addressed during the initial consultation as the temporary elimination of allergens are needed to get on a path of wholeness.

  • When in pain or feeling miserable, most of us do not feel like exercising. Exercise (a.k.a. Movement) is necessary for everyone. Again, teaching self-hypnosis so clients can better adhere to their prescribed exercise routine.
